The Story Behind The Dream

Welcome to Dream Big Mini Farm, a place where we understand that life is full of difficult transitions and that sometimes, heartbreakingly, people find themselves needing to rehome their beloved animals. We know that these decisions often come from a place of deep love, and our mission is to provide the peace of mind that those animals are stepping into a life of safety and dignity. What started four years ago as a dream to share farm life through educational tours has evolved into a full-scale, non-profit animal sanctuary. While historic snowstorms in recent years shifted our focus toward rebuilding, the sanctuary side of the farm took off at full speed. Today, we are home to nearly 350 animals, each one guaranteed a forever home where they are treated as family, not as products.

Our heart beats specifically for the birds that the world often overlooks. We are a dedicated refuge for roosters of all breeds, sizes, and ages—creatures that are so often unwanted or untolerated elsewhere. Here, they finally get to just be themselves. Alongside them, we welcome hens of all ages to officially "retire." In a world where a hen's value is often tied to her egg production, Dream Big offers a different path: a golden retirement where they can spend their days dust-bathing, foraging, and basking in the sun without any expectations or pressure.

Life on the farm is lived wide-open, rooted in the belief that animals need to stretch, bask in the sunshine, and frolic in the fresh air. We don’t believe in cages here; our residents only see a crate if they are in quarantine for health or recovery. During the day, our animals coexist and free-range together. When the sun goes down, they are secured behind fencing and 12,000 volts of protective wire, watched over by our dedicated guard dog. This lifestyle ensures that every animal, from the smallest chick to the largest farm friend, lives a healthy, happy, and truly free life.

Dream Big Mini Farm exists because of one woman’s unwavering commitment to doing right by animals when it’s easier to look away. Jessyka is the founder, caretaker, and steady heartbeat of the farm — the hands behind every feeding, every repair, and every late-night decision made in the animals’ best interest. Her story is one of grit, sacrifice, and a deep belief that compassion should never have limits.
Meet Jessyka

Behind the scenes, this sanctuary is a labor of pure passion and grit, run entirely by one person. Jessyka manages the daily care of 350 animals—feeding, watering, cleaning, and providing vet care—all while running a professional tree service, working night shifts, and raising four children. With no volunteers and roughly 4.5 hours of sleep a night, there is no such thing as "free time" in her books. This is a 24/7 commitment fueled by a refusal to turn down an animal in need and a desire to educate those looking for a better understanding of animal care.

As we look toward the future, we are working hard to bring the community back into the fold. This year, we are gearing up to relaunch our farm tours, introduce summer farm camps, and create a beautiful space for gatherings and live music. We ask for your continued patience as we balance the needs of the animals with the demands of the "real world." Whether you are donating a bag of feed, visiting for an intake, or attending a seasonal event, you are helping us save the farm—one animal at a time.

If you feel called to support the work happening here, donations directly help make these plans possible.
